Adoption pending. This cutie is Kya and she and her two brothers who have since been adopted arrived last week. She has had her first set of shots and is waiting for the perfect family to share her love and exuberance with. The requirements to adopt Kya are non negotiable. In each home someone should be home 95% of the time. It does not have to be the same person but for proper socialization and house training there has to be a LOT of interaction so someone needs to be there to do that. Each home must have Shiba experience either past or present. We would prefer a home with another dog so she learns the “ropes” from them! Also kids are a plus but not a necessity. Cats although she has never seen a cat it will be an important part of her socialization if there is one in the home. Kya will need to be taken most everywhere her adopter goes to meet people and hear loud noises etc. She will be on a foster to adopt contract until her vaccines are completed and is to be spayed by the age of 1. As a puppy she is learning house training and leash training! At this point learning how NOT to chew the leash! Hey it’s a start! A puppy is a lifetime commitment and we will choose the home best suited for her. We only have 1 puppy and unfortunately a lot of people will be disappointed. If you meet the requirements to adopt Kya please fill out an adoption application found at the tabs form at the top of this page. Kya is located in the Tampa area.

We adopted my nieces Shiba when she was two years old. We just lost her three months ago and she was 14 years old. We would not consider any other breed. She lost her first eye when she was about six, and became totally blind at eight years old. She handled it so well, most people did not even realize she was blind. We definitely know what a handful Shibas are !! They don’t listen, are extremely stubborn , totally non-affectionate. But I would never consider another breed. They are the best.♥️ I am retired, and my husband will be retired next year, so we have plenty of time to train. Our Shiba‘s name was Mushu. She was totally part of our family and goes with us everywhere. I saw her little face, and I knew she was the one.

Hi!! My Name is Nicole. I am very interested in adopting Kya. I have been on the hunt for a Shiba for sometime now. I used to own a Shiba myself but unfortunately she passed. I love Shibas because they remind me a lot of myself. They are a little bit more difficult to train but very smart. They require lots of love and patience. In my experience shibas aren’t the biggest cuddlers but they are full of unconditional love. I have a house with a fenced yard and I work from home so I am able to give her my full attention. I also own a cat that is very relaxed and has been around dogs. I think Kya would be the best fit for me.

I would love Kya- I am currently on the wait list for a puppy from a responsible AKC breeder in Tampa (arriving Jan) so Kya would not be the only Shiba, and because there are other dogs in the home I have been looking for a puppy and not an older dog so Kya would be a great fit. I live in a multi-gen home with my 60 year old folks while I work and attend grad school (both remotely) who hand raised a bull mastiff, Rottweiler, blue heeler/ridgeback mix, and I grew up watching those “good dog” practices. I work in tech and work from home and am literally almost always here. I already have a ton of puppy stuff because of prep for the puppy in January. There are two older yorkies in the home who helped raise the bull mastiff (and he was so sweet and well socialized as a result, he passed on last year). I am in my 20s. Huge backyard. I would love to provide a loving home for Kya. I have already been trained up on socialization and getting Shibas with their unique personality correctly accustomed to people/other dogs

Hello,
My name is Craig McMillan and I live in Oakland Park Florida. I lost my dog in October 2022 to cancer. She was a mix of Rhodesian, Ridgeback, boxer, and bulldog. He was about 10 years old when he passed. I feel like I am feeling it is time to look at another dog, a smaller dog, which a puppy would fit perfectly as this breed will not get too large. I live in a condo where we are allowed to have at least two dogs around 40 pounds, each give or take. If this dog is still available, please let me know. My phone number is 954-9136606 thank you,
